The Ides of March: The Nones

Today, on the Nones, this variant of “The End,” releasing “Before the Ides,” is called “Vinifera.” It’s namesake is an alien spacecraft that is also a living organism. I realize it’s similar to a little Romulan spaceship, like what was brought to us by J.J. Abrams, however, I came up with the idea in high school, before his version of Star Trek came out.

Weirdly enough though, I stopped working on “Vinifera” before I got to actually describe  the setting of a Vinifera ship.

This version will read similarly to “NE: New Earth”, except Crys is the main character and Sophia turns out to be a supporting character. Vinifera was thought of before I developed the “NE: New Earth” concept of “The End”.

I wrote this around the time I read the “Hunger Games”; I think I was subconsciously inspired by it.

Fun fact that you will NOT read in any of the versions: at the center of the vinifera are two tree-like beings that were gods to the aliens. As punishment, the aliens were sacrificed and eaten by the trees when the gods were angered. This idea I can’t take credit for. My high school friend Sarah Giffen gave me the idea, but I never implemented it into any version I wrote.
