Hello everyone,
My deepest apologies for being absent. I officially started a couple of podcasts, so that has consumed plenty of time, taking me attention away from staying current here.
However, I could never abandon my firstborn, this beautiful blog! How do you feel about the new look? If you’re new, do you like what you see? (Comment and let me know.)
Recently, a dear friend PM’d me on Insta and asked what was the meaning behind the logo, specifically the Calla Lilies?
I started this blog in my dorm room, determined to allow God to make me His instrument through writing stories that would rock the world! As I designed a logo, I selected a shield thinking about how God is my protection. I chose arrows to aim at hearts with truth. Finally, I rested on Calla Lilies because that is my grandmother’s favorite flower.
You see, my grams is by far my biggest human inspiration. She is vulnerable and transparent and real about her faith and her life. And her life is probably the messiest, most painful, and yet at times, sincerely blissful for a gentle soul like her to endure. No matter what, she finds strength in Jesus to keep pressing forward!
Fun fact, I would have never gone to Bible College, the place I started this blog, without my grams. She was watching TV, led by the Holy Spirit, and the pastor that founded college was on TV for one of his uplifting programs. At the end, he promoted the Bible College he started and as he talked about it, the Holy Spirit told my grams to call and to get info for me. This was 3 am in the morning.
In another city, hours away, I was up praying, asking God what to do next with my life. I was at crossroads. I just found out I would have to go one extra semester to get my associates in psychology. I was in love with a young man who was kind, but not a believer, and one of my closest friends was caught up in the cult of Mormonism. My world was shaken and I wasn’t standing in it too strongly.
I only slept for a couple hours, when my grandmother called. Now, this accredited Bible College was another two-year-degree-earning-place like the institution I got my psych degree, but often, God leads us to do things that doesn’t make sense. He uses the foolish things to confound the wise.
Though I could continue to testify how God got me to Bible College, I’ll conclude why the logo looks the way it does…
Because of my grandma.
I recently updated the logo.
The original one was:
Made using Canva… (This is not an ad.)
I put Proverbs 16:3 because I wanted to commit this blog to the Lord and trust Him to usher His will through it. Plus, I heard the Kendrick Brothers stood on the scripture when they began making films… They we from Flywheel to Overcomer… what a long way they’ve come. Inspired by their testimony, I reached out in faith to claim what they already got from God, but for me.
And the new logo is:
Made using Adobe Spark [not an ad also]. I use it because I pay for it.
{Yes, my preference is Canva… easier to use, more variety in adjustments. Cool motion graphic options. Worth money if you upgrade to pro. Best part is, you don’t have to be tech savvy to be a Canva King or Queen!}
Who is one of your biggest human inspirations? Comment below, I want to know.
Much love,
